Before I am a photographer, I am a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a friend. Maybe that's why I cry during every father daughter dance. I laugh at every toast. I well up when an Officiant pronounces a couple husband and wife. I buzz with joy chasing children around the playground. I feel awe when a newborn's tiny hand clutches my pinky finger. I draw from the emotions I have experienced through my own life's most precious moments to know when and how to capture those of others, and I usually can't help feeling overwhelmed myself! The emotional rush I feel when I'm behind the camera is what makes me love what I do. The joy I bring others through photography is what makes me do what I love.

Shannon's Senior Pictures!

I can't believe I forgot to post these... My cousin Shannon asked me if I would take her senior pictures, so when I was in Cleveland visiting my family for Thanksgiving, we went over to the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library for her session. The library is in an old beautiful mansion, with lots of interesting spaces, so it was a treat to be able to photograph there. The staff was so gracious and even let us explore some of the private areas for our session.

This is the library I grew up visiting on a regular basis and being there again brought back fond memories of our family trips there (always followed by a stop at Dairy Queen for lunch after!).

And of course there is the not-so-fond memory of when I flipped over my handle bars in the driveway when my bag of books to be returned got stuck between the spokes of my front wheel. The library was not yet open, but a senior citizen group of some sort had an event and was having their group picture taken out in front. I'm sure I gave them all quite a scare! I ended up with stitches in my front lip and 2 new front teeth. I think I was more upset that the first day of 8th grade was just 2 weeks away and how would I be able to show my face!? Luckily, it was a quick recovery and I was good as new in time for the first day of school!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures of Shannon!

We took a few family pictures as well while we were there - with Shannon is my Aunt Jill, Uncle John and my cousin, Molly. I also photographed Molly for her senior pictures 2 years ago.
