Before I am a photographer, I am a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a friend. Maybe that's why I cry during every father daughter dance. I laugh at every toast. I well up when an Officiant pronounces a couple husband and wife. I buzz with joy chasing children around the playground. I feel awe when a newborn's tiny hand clutches my pinky finger. I draw from the emotions I have experienced through my own life's most precious moments to know when and how to capture those of others, and I usually can't help feeling overwhelmed myself! The emotional rush I feel when I'm behind the camera is what makes me love what I do. The joy I bring others through photography is what makes me do what I love.

Blog Tag!

I was tagged by the fun and fabulous Amanda of Orchard Cove Photography. The rules of the game are simple - if you get tagged, you have to list 8 facts about yourself that people might otherwise not know... So, here I go, although it's kind of hard to think of 8 things that most people don't know... I'm kind of an open book, so here are 8 things that I know for sure I haven't shared on this blog. Sorry if they are things you already know about me!

1. I'm a huge football fan. I play co-ed flag football on Saturday mornings (when I don't have a wedding or portrait session scheduled!) with my team, La Resistance. My favorite college team is the Ohio State Buckeyes and my favorite pro team is, of course, the Cleveland Browns.

2. In case number 1 didn't give it away, I'm originally from Cleveland, Ohio. And since it's baseball season, must give a big shout out to the #1 Cleveland Indians!!

3. I love shoes. and shopping. and shopping for shoes.

4. I have been known to eat ice cream for dinner. More than once. More than once a week. And my mom told me to. My favorite is anything Haagen-Daz, but if I had to pick only one, it'd be HD's Light Dutch Chocolate. Yummm!

5. I watch Jon Stewart on the Daily Show EVERY night. I can't go to bed without him. In fact, I am watching him right now as I type these answers. I think it is the smartest television around.

6. I love going to museums. I guess it's great for me that I live in DC! My favorite is the Corcoran Gallery of Art and I'm very excited that the Corcoran's fall exhibitions are of 2 of my favorite photographers - Ansel Adams and Annie Liebowitz.

7. Favorites - red wine and chocolate.... really, do I need to say any more?

8. My brother called me Yuck-ca-ca when we were kids and my niece calls me Ca-Ca. Who knew Jessica was so hard to say? I wonder what my brand new baby nephew Tate will call me (more on him soon - I'm going to visit in a couple of weeks, so there will be lots of pictures to share!).

Phew! I'm done!

Who I'm tagging... 5 fabulous and fun photographers!

Jennifer Grigg
Kimberly Reed

Uh oh ... I have to get PERSONAL on my blog? ;)

I'm up to it! Is there a min or max number of people I can/should tag?

I think you can tag as many or as few as you like!

Yum ice cream for dinner, one of the benefits of being an adult. Is there anyone left to tag?
Thank you for thinking of me Jessica. I have to meet you some day.

Jessica, when is that exhibition? I may have to come in for that. Perhaps we could go together?

The Ansel Adams Exhibition is Sept. 15 - Jan. 27 and the Annie Liebowitz, A Photographer's Life Exhibition is Oct. 13-Jan. 13. Yes, come out to DC! I'd love to go together!

Jessica, you shouldn't flaunt all the culture and wonderful photographic exhibits out east. It'll start to make me jealous and think of crashing your exhibit-going!
